Media: Oils / mixed media artist and teacher
About: Hello. I paint the beautiful landscapes, seabirds, and seashells of the seacoast. I spent my earlier years studying landscape, as well as human and animal portraiture with Thadeous Kladnicki of Rockport, Mass., using a wide range of drawing and painting tools, including pastels and watercolor. Further study ensued of the same subjects and landscapes using mixed media en plein air and in the studio with several nationally recognized teachers on the NH Seacoast, such as Norma Machado, Libby Chase, and Eric Ebbeson. This intense study had enabled me to make a quick transition to oil painting. During the last eight years, my art took on a new energy when I found a teacher, Todd Bonita of Greenland, NH, who inspired me to pursue the lifelong task of mastering the technique of the Old Masters, known as the “Layering and Glazing Technique”. I have participated in ongoing classes and workshops of the New Ogunquit Summer School of Art in Oqunquit, Maine with Todd Bonita, Beaman Cole, Chris Volpe and Donald Jurney in both plein air sketching and Alla Prima painting. I have been a full time exhibiting member and oil painting teacher of the Seacoast Art Association in Exeter, NH, and have sold several paintings privately and in various art associations on the Seacoast. I regularly donate my smaller paintings to several local wildlife and animal charities, and teach studio drawing and painting classes on the Seacoast in Exeter and Deerfield, NH in my home studio.
